Electrify Canada Expands in Alberta with Opening of New Calgary Charging Station

Electric vehicle drivers in Calgary can now experience DC fast charging speeds of up to 350kW

Toronto, ON (April 1, 2021) – Electrify Canada is continuing its network expansion with the opening of its newest DC fast charging station in Calgary, Alberta, located at the Canadian Tire store at 910 57 Avenue Northeast. The station is equipped with four chargers capable of speeds up to 150kW or 350kW, which is the fastest universal charging available for EVs.

The new Calgary station is located off Deerfoot Trail, making it highly accessible and convenient with amenities nearby. With the Rocky Mountains and some of the most scenic drive routes in the country, just under an hour away, this station will provide a convenient charging point for travellers looking to enjoy nearby attractions like Banff National Park, Lake Louise and Sunshine Village Ski Resort.

“Following our expansion into Alberta at the end of last year, we are thrilled to expand our network with the fastest charging options available for EV drivers in Calgary,” said Anthony Lambkin, senior director of operations for Electrify Canada. “We are pleased to provide convenient, accessible charging for Calgary locals as well as vacationers coming and going, once road trips become an option again.”

With a growing demand for electric charging infrastructure, Electrify Canada is committed to further building accessible charging stations for EV drivers throughout the country.  In western Canada over the last year, expansion has been strong with two charging stations now open in Alberta and six in British Columbia.  After additional stations open in British Columbia later this year, EV drivers will have access to a direct route from Calgary to Vancouver along the Trans-Canada highway and Coquihalla.

Network Expansion, Canopy Installations, Simplified Pricing

Electrify Canada made several major enhancements to its network throughout last year to elevate the overall charging experience for consumers. The decision to construct overhead canopies at all locations was made in an effort to provide shelter, especially during the snowy Canadian winter months. The new Calgary location will open with its canopy installed and existing locations will have canopies installed throughout this year.

The brand also rolled out a simplified pricing plan last fall, providing customers with competitive rates for two power levels, from 1-90kW and 1-350kW, and eliminating session fees. Specific details on the pricing can be found in the Electrify Canada mobile app, which allows users to locate a station, initiate, monitor and pay for a charging session all remotely.

The company expects to complete its initial plans for 32 charging stations with a total of 128 fast chargers by the end of 2021. To locate a charging station and view upcoming locations, visit https://www.electrify-canada.ca/locate-charger.
